  • Overview

    SCCI is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to provide technical writing support for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM). Successful candidates will serve as part of the IETM development team. This position is located in Austin, Texas.

    Responsibilities

    • Research, create, edit and maintain technical documentation
    • Write materials in conformance with style guides and military document standards
    • Organize writing projects and interface productively with subject matter experts, graphic illustrators, other writers, and management
    • Research source-material changes, document change requests, and other sources to determine required content updates
    • Proofread and edit documentation to ensure consistency of language and style, as well as correct application of templates
    • Work with Quality Assurance team to coordinate product quality activities
    • Follow Agile principles for iterative development
    • Act as peer reviewer, as needed
    • Coordinate work with others in a fast-paced team environment

    Qualifications

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to successfully obtain a Secret Security Clearance
    • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
    • 2 or more years’ experience developing technical manuals
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams across product development lifecycles
    • Excellent English language skills; and proficiency in proofreading/editing, writing, and verbal communication
    • Must be a team player, highly motivated, with strong communication skills
    • High degree of professionalism, adherence to high quality standards, and attention to detail

     

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Experience developing technical manuals for the United States Department of Defense
    • Experience supporting military or government documentation standards
    • Experience with Agile methodologies
    • Experience with version control software and project management software.
    • Experience as a project lead
    • Experience with ISO 9001:2015
    • Experience with mark-up and browser-based presentation technologies, such as DITA, XML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
    • Working knowledge of Oxygen
