    SCCI is seeking a Software Engineer - Tools Developer to provide Software Engineering support for the development and migration of Tools and Databases for the Battle Management System (BMS) team. BMS support tools, such as the Problem Report Database and the BMS Internal Hardware Tracking System (BIHTS) are the core of the rapid development process for BMS software and hardware products. The successful candidate will work closely with end-users to understand software requirements, and will support the porting of software tools to other platforms, such as web-based, Linux, or mobile devices. This is an entry-mid level position located in King George, VA

    Responsibilities

    The Software Engineer - Tools Developer will perform duties in accordance with the customer's requirements to include the following:

    • Design, code, maintain and document support tools.
    • Work closely with engineers and staff across functional areas, including Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Test, Training, Configuration Management and Safety, to ensure that the tools and processes meet the requirements of all stakeholders.
    • Define and evaluate requirements, and support the adjudication of priorities.
    • Design and code software solutions and enhancements to existing support software.
    • Research state-of-the art software and database solutions, recommend and implement improvements to maximize the usability of support tools.
    • Execute software and system engineering best practices for requirements definition and decomposition, design and implementation of customer and end-user requirements.
    • Assess operational performance criteria and provide input for improving performance.
    • Develop and communicate software design considerations, progress and performance results both orally and in writing.

    Qualifications

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to successfully obtain a SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.
    • BS Degree: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or related field, with relevant experience or coursework. 
    • Knowledge of Software Development Processes.
    • Experience with Database Design and Development.
    • Experience using:
      • Microsoft Visual Studio.
      • .NET Visual Basic.
      • C or C++ programming languages.
      • Windows 7, for software development.
      • Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to:
      • Work in a fast paced, rapidly changing range/field environment.
      • Ability to work independently and interact professionally with other government agencies, contractors,military personnel.
      • Work with others to meet established goals and program schedules.
      • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
      • Learn processes and system concepts quickly.

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • In-depth knowledge of one or more of the following areas:
      • Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
      • SQL databases/C++ software development.
      • Linux/Unix.
