    SCCI is seeking a highly motivated Technical Solutions Architect to develop and maintain processes and tools that allow authoring of content in XML that generate documentation in a variety of formats, including HTML-based interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs) and PDF-based documents at our Austin, Texas office. This position will interact with tech writers, instructional system designers (ISDs), software engineers, and web designer & developers.

    Responsibilities

    • Support industry standard XML environment for content development projects, to include style sheets, scripts, and schemas for existing and new XML-based content development projects
    • Develop and maintain authoring environments for technical writers  
    • Develop content models and, where necessary, DITA specializations to fit the needs of SCCI technical writers, instructional designers, and other content developers.
    • Develop XSLT to accommodate specifications and requirements for output.
    • Develop and maintain version control repositories to maintain content and support files (DTDs, XSLs, build files, and related files).
    • Develop and maintain build jobs that support product delivery.
    • Communicate regularly with customers regarding technical manual requirements, and for plans to develop and implement documentation solutions
    • Develop and maintain environments for technical documents and on-line training
    • Continue support for XML products
    • Upgrade existing transformation to support changes to tools 
    • Perform travel as required (less than 10%) in support of contract activities

    Qualifications

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to successfully attain a Secret Security Clearance
    • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university 
    • Five years experience developing online documentation products
    • Two years experience with XSLs/XSLT, schemas (XSD), XPath, XML, and XSL:FO
    • Two years experience with XML editors (i.e. Oxygen XML Developer)
    • Experience with scripting languages, such as Python
    • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, and HTML
    • Experience with version control solutions (i.e. Subversion)
    • Experience with continuous integration (i.e. Jenkins)
    • Team player with outstanding verbal and written communication skills 
    • Highly professional, high quality standards, excellent attention to detail
    • Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to pass a background investigation

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • DITA XML and DITA domains
    • Apache Ant or similar automated build tools
    • RenderX xep or similar XSL:FO processor
    • Topic maps
    • Experience building WYSIWYG XML authoring tools using third party tools (i.e. Oxygen XML Author, Altova Stylevision, Altova Authentic)
    • HTML5
    • S1000D
    • SCORM
    • Experience supporting military or government
    • Layout and document design
