Overview

SCCI is seeking a Jr. System Administrator to assist the Network Administrator with installing and maintaining network infrastructure components including but not limited to servers, workstations, printers, telephone system, and backups. The Jr. System Administrator will work as part of a team as well as independently to troubleshoot complex problems to determine and implement appropriate solutions with little supervision or assistance. To be successful the Jr. System Administrator will need to be familiar with current technology standards and ongoing knowledge of technical trends within the industry to make recommendations for change where appropriate. This position is located at our office in King George, Va and is available immediately. 

Responsibilities

The Jr. System Administrator will: 

  • Assist in the day to day management and maintenance of the overall network infrastructure including log and system monitoring, end user issue resolution, backup verification, internet and LAN connectivity issues, access control management, email connectivity issues, virus and malware mitigation, etc…
  • Be able to update all required documentation quickly, accurately and consistently.
  • Be able to setup or reclaim all IT assets in accordance with established New Hire and Departure Procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist with troubleshooting problems with networks, web services, mail services, CAC card configurations, and overall aspects of the IT infrastructure.
  • Baseline reclaimed and new IT systems in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Be able to enter, update, track and close out all assigned support tickets.
  • Assists with the administration and maintenance of the telephone system, including setup and configuration of phone extensions and telephones, and the telephone database.
  • Assist in oversight of the physical security, integrity, and safety of computer systems including periodic scheduled upgrades to the latest secure OS /3rd party application versions.
  • Assist with Dell warranty part replacements.
  • Assist with the testing and development of disaster recovery processes and procedures.
  • Manage networked software, including installation, setup, upgrades, maintenance and consistent reliable documentation.
  • Manage critical system backups including all share drive data, system state, security badge access database, telephone database, firewall configurations, SharePoint databases, etc.
  • Maintain system software licenses and physical assets and track all assets utilizing SharePoint technology.
  • Manage and support secure Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) by creating accounts and testing and resolving connectivity issues.
  • Analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user training where required.
  • Once fully trained, assume ISSO responsibilities and contribute to continuous monitoring efforts of all RMF accredited systems.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to successfully pass a background investigation and obtain a T/S (Top Secret) clearance.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in a network administration position preferred.
  • Security +(CE) <- must be able to obtain Sec +(CE) w/in 6 months of start date.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server technologies (Windows 2008R2/2012R2, future OSs), Active Directory and Group Policy administration.
  • Knowledge of Exchange 2010/2013, VPN technology, and Backup software and processes.
  • Ability to communicate and problem-solve individually as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational & time-management skills.
  • Excellent writing skills to capture, track, and report network data and topology changes.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN /WAN concepts and architecture.
  • Knowledge of Windows 7/10 Professional baseline configuration processes; MDT 2013 U1/U2 knowledge and experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Any or all of the following certifications: MTA, MCSA, A+, Net+, CEH, Sec+(CE).
  • Associate or Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or relevant field
  • Knowledgeable with Barracuda backup and spam devices.
  • Knowledgeable with Fortinet firewall devices.
  • Basic scripting knowledge of any or all of the following: PowerShell, Visual Basic, Batch.
  • Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2013 administration.
  • LogMeInRescue remote desktop control software.
  • Avaya IP Office telephony Management software.
  • VMware/Hyper-V Virtual Machine administration.
  • SANs administration, Knowledge of Server RAIDs (RAID 1, RAID 5/10) and implementation.
  • Knowledgeable with DoD classified accreditation processes and procedures; NISPOM Chapter 8, DIACAP, Risk Management Framework.
  • Patch/change management methodologies; SCAP Tool  vulnerability scanning, POAM development.
