  • Overview

    SCCI has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at our Dahlgren, VA location. This position is in support of Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). 


    The Mechanical Engineer will:

    • Have initiative and be able to work independently and within a group
    • Be able to successfully present and defend designs in front of peers
    • Be familiar with finite element analysis
    • Be willing and able to travel in support of various test evolutions: shock, vibration, EMI, etc
    • Have experience with mechanical systems, assembly, disassembly, and diagnostics
    • Be able to develop and present presentations and/or point papers addressing system requirements and designs at various design milestones: In-Process Reviews, Design Reviews, etc
    • Be able to assist in development of functional test plans for mechanical components such as equipment racks, gimbals, and other mechanical components
    • Have experience working with the following types of software:
    • 3 dimensional computer aided design software (e.g. SolidWorks, ProE, Catia)
    • Spreadsheets (e.g. Excel)
    • Presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint)


    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Must be a U.S. CITIZEN and have a minimumof an ACTIVE SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE
    • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, engineering technology, or an applied physics discipline, OR have equivalent work experience as defined in the following 2 bullet points below
    • 3 years of Solidworks design*
    • Have a minimum of 4 years experience with detailed component design*
    • Be familiar with design for manufacturing methods and techniques through actual application of those processes to design
    • Be familiar and to have worked with configuration management process such as notice of revisions, engineering change notices, notice of revision, etc
    • Be able to read and apply ASME Y14.5 2009 to mechanical drawings
    • Be able to provide design guidance to ensure compliance with applicable equipment, military specifications, and/or shipboard codes

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Have experience working with the following types of software:
    • Solidworks Simulation (Cosmos)
    • Hypermesh/Radioss
    • Adobe Professional
    • SolidWorks Enterprise PDM
