Overview

SCCI has an opening for a System Engineer/Tester, who will support the Development and Testing of the MK 34 and MK 48 project, as well as the coordination of updates with Training and Maintenance activities. This position is located at our office in Dahlgren, VA

Responsibilities

The System Engineer/Tester will:

  • Have experience with the MK 34 Gun Weapon System, MK 48 Gun Weapon System, MK 160 Gun Computer System (GCS), or related systems or subsystems such as the AN/SPQ-9B radar, Optical Sight System (OSS), or combat systems and ship sensors
  • Develop test plans and procedures for GWS/GCS Software Builds, including new capabilities, software fixes and enhancements
  • Support system installations and build test events at the Search and Track Sensor Test Site (STSTS) facility at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD)
  • Document user-visible Software Differences for each MK 160 Software Build
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Personnel to provide updates to Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs)
  • Document and deliver Training/Usability updates with the appropriate Navy Schools, to ensure instruction is up-to-date with the latest developments, as well as tactics and procedures

Qualifications

 

Essential Skills and Experience: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Five (5) years of DoD Weapon System Experience in any of the following:
    • Design
    • Test and Evaluation
    • Tactical Use
    • Training
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Some travel may be required in performance of these duties 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in system test
  • Experience with weapon system employment and/or use-case testing
  • Two (2) years of experience with at least one major weapons system program, in any of the following disciplines:
    • Requirements Definition
    • Concepts of Operation (CONOPs) Development
    • Risk Assessment
    • Configuration Management (CM)
    • Performance Analysis
    • Post-delivery support
